January 2002 Meeting Notes At our January meeting we had 13 members and guests. Fred Ulrich called the meeting to order and asked for additional ideas regarding locations for the SAM initiation and banquet scheduled for later this year. Joe M. Turner has constructed a new web site for the assembly. Gene Hendrix opened the performances with his presentation of the Dunbury Delusion card routine. Turner performed a close-up act which included a John Bannon variation of the Hamman "Signed Card" plot and a multi-phase coin routine which culminated with a marked coin vanishing and reappearing in the card box right above the originally signed card. Doyne Michie had a card selected and when he began to reveal it, a fountain of cards sprang from his shirt pocket until only the selected card remained. Kathy Hoffman folded a napkin into a small flower shape and after reciting a short poem, magically transformed the paper flower into a small silk flower. Additional close-up magic sessioning continued after the main meeting concluded. A thanks to Joe Turner for the work on the new web site and for help on this write up. |
