July 2002 Meeting Notes Joe Turner served as our MC/VP. The evening's festivities began with Rick Hinze doing a New York City take on the old three card monte. Alas, he lost his money again! Fred Ulrich told a story of a wayward queen who got stretched to her limit. Not to be undaunted, Dan Garrett also stretched a queen with the queen then disappearing from between the aces and appearing from his jacket. Dan tried out a new Lubor Fiedler effect on the crowd that consisted of a black box with a metal die inside. A spectator chose a number and placed the die in the box, covering the die with the lid. Dan then divined the number on the die and allowed all to be examined. Joe Turner had three cards selected and ended up with two black aces and Howie Marmer, one of our visitors, did a prediction from the items on the menu at Shoney's. He asked a spectator who thought of a turkey club, then changed to country fried steak breakfast. The prediction in the envelope was the country fried steak breakfast. Joe Turner then did an egg bag with Seymour Kessler for the steak breakfast. Seymour said it was an eggsraordinary trick! Ken Scott, another visitor, chose to work with aces and queens. There was a black–hole on the back of one of the cards. He peeled off the black hole and threw it into the deck. Behold, the selected card had a real hole in it. The last performer of the evening was President Gene Hendrix. He had three cards selected as criminals and the aces were the police force assigned to catch them with the ace of spades as the chief. Lucky for us, the criminal cards were caught between the aces, never to threaten the good citizens of Atlanta again. We hope you were able to make it to the SEAM convention in August. We will not be having our regular meeting then because of schedule conflict with the convention. Carol Garrett, Assembly Secretary |
