January 2003 IBM Ring 9/SAM Assembly 30 Holiday Banquet On Saturday, January 4, 2003, the Atlanta Society of Magicians gathered with Georgia Magic Club for the annual combined holiday banquet. The main course of fried chicken was contributed by Gene Hendrix, president of the ASM. The members of both clubs brought side dishes and desserts. Before dinner, attendees were treated to close-up magic performances by Robert Bengel, Ted Harty, Evan Reynolds, Rick Silver, and Paul Sponaugle. Gordon Astley entertained with handwriting analysis. Additional impromptu magic performances by several members of both clubs were also enjoyed by the attendees. After dinner, Bill Packard and Dale Adamson magically produced 2001 Magician of the Year Ken Scott from an empty door frame on stage. Ken Scott was presented with a plaque commemorating his year as Greater Atlanta Magician of the Year by Georgia Magic Club President Paul Sponaugle. The Georgia Magic Club "President's Award" was then presented to Joe M. Turner, who served as an officer in one or both clubs for the last three years. Finally, Ken Scott announced that the votes had been counted, and that the 2002 Magician of the Year was Rolando Santos. A stage show followed, featuring Bob Winstead, Gordon Astley, Mark Hatfield, Carey Huddlestun, Guy Philips and David Smith. Dale Adamson served as Master of Ceremonies.
